William "Bill" Tindel Obituary

William "Bill" Herbert Tindel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 22, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 23, 1936, in Altha, FL, Bill was a man of integrity and kindness that will be carried on through his loving family.

A proud graduate of Altha High School, Bill excelled academically and was honored as valedictorian of his class. He furthered his education at Chipola College, where he continued to demonstrate his commitment to excellence. Bill's work ethic was evident from a young age as he began farming, a passion that would stay with him throughout his life. He later retired from Sunbeam, Flower Baking Company, where he was respected by his colleagues for his dedication and hard work. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved water skiing, farming and gardening. More than anything, Bill cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, creating memories and imparting wisdom that would guide them for years to come.

Bill's commitment to his faith and community was unwavering. He was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church, where he found great joy in serving others, particularly by taking meals to the widows of the church. His thoughtfulness and generosity were hallmarks of his character, and his actions inspired those around him to live with compassion and grace.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Leetie Barton Tindel, and his two sisters, Melrae Carter and Betty Tindel. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of those he leaves behind, including his loving wife of 68 years, Ernestine Tindel, and their four children: Bill Tindel and wife, Joni, Rick Tindel and wife, Libby, Linda Traylor and her husband, Bryan, and Claudia Green and her husband, Thomas. Bill's legacy continues through his 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Southwell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Eastside Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Stephens and Reverend Dr. Steve Canada officiating. Honorary seating will be provided to the Adult 6 Sunday School Class that Bill loved so much. Interment will be private in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Altha, FL with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. until the time of service at Eastside Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund: 4785 Highway 90, Marianna, FL, 32446
