William T. Layton

William T. Layton age 70 of Marianna passed away on, Friday, August 24, 2018 at his home.

He was a resident of Marianna for 10 years, coming here from Georgia and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the local VFW, Moose Lodge and the Civic Club.

Mr. Layton was retired from the U. S. Army, a veteran of the Vietnam War, a postal worker and a past EMS Director in Thomas County, GA. His favorite past times were going to Sadies and the Graceville Auction, collecting knives and playing golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mary Kathryn Layton, sister Helen Layton Roddenberry and his mother-in-law Esther Cadenhead.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Cadenhead Layton of Marianna; son Brian Layton and wife Scarlet of Lynn Haven, FL, step-sons Scott Whiddon and wife Kortney of Bonifay, FL., Gary Wright of Marianna, Michael Whiddon of St. Augustine, FL and step-daughter Shawanda Hull of Bonifay, FL; brothers-in-law, Jerome Cadenhead, Sebring, FL, Jerry Cadenhead and wife, Tina of Ohio, Mike Cadenhead and Adrienne Cadenhead of Bonifay, FL, Kevin Cadenhead and  wife Karen of Winchester, Tn, Danny Cadenhead of Milton, FL; sisters Merle Layton Isgett of Hilton Head, S.C., grandchildren Dakota, Layton, Jaron Hickman, Trent Hickman (Chelsey); step-grandchildren, Johnathon Whiddon, Nathan Whiddon, Kelby Campbell, Michael Hull, Anna Hull and Kara Langford; great grandchildren, Alec Hickman, Brantley Hickman and Emma Cravens; best friend Tony Swearingen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his Graceville Auction family.

The funeral service for William will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 and 2:00 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Layton officiating. Military honors will be by the Fort Rucker honor guard. The local VFW is asked to be honorary pallbearers.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday evening August 27, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. 

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Homeless Veterans.
