Steven "Steve" Ployer Obituary

Our daddy, Steve Ployer, was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 6th, 1959. He then married, Connie Tobitt, the love of his life, in 1977. Steve joined the military (Army) at 17 and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, the first of many duty stations! He had his first daughter, Jennifer Pizzoferrato, while stationed in Hawaii. He had his second daughter, Makayla Cole shortly after returning from Germany.

He honorably retired from the Army, just before her birth, in 1994. Steve spent his last years working at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Miramar, where he worked security, watching over momma’s coming in on the happiest days of their lives, as they were about to give birth. He LOVED this part and shared in their joy with them! But his most beloved roll was as ‘Grandpa-Dude’ to his two favorite people in the world, his ‘Grand-Buggies’, Bella and Marcy. They were both the little loves of his life; nothing made him smile more than those two little faces. Steve proudly served in the Army during Desert Storm and retired as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). Steven was an accomplished wood worker and craftsman, a collector (hoarder) of every tool known to man. He was a serious “thrift”-aholic.  #thriftordie.

Steve is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie Ployer; his older sisters, Theresa Treadway and Debbie Hunnicutt; daughters, Jennifer Pizzoferrato (Justin Pizzoferrato) and Makayla Cole (Rob Cole); and his two ‘Grand-buggies’, Bella Pizzoferrato (18) and Marcy Cole (2.5).

A memorial service was held at 2 P.M., Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Coley officiating. The family received friends from 1 P.M. until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
