Rita G. Abbott

Rita Gail “McCoy” Abbott, loving partner and mother of two, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2022 at the age of 56.  She arrived into this world on February 22, 1966 in Davey, Florida to the late James Thomas McCoy and Emmie Louise McCoy (Kirkland). 

Rita was a licensed cosmetologist, a talented baker, master cake decorator, and a dedicated caregiver to many throughout her life. She loved to craft, fish, spend the day at the beach, and spend time with her family. She loved fiercely and deeply. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family who take comfort in knowing she is at peace and surrounded by light.

She is survived by her partner of many years, Ray Harrington; her two beloved children, Starla Chance (Creed) and James Abbott;  two grandchildren, Ayrabelle and Duncan. She was loved by her siblings, Sally Blizzard (Kenny), James McCoy (Rose), nieces, nephews, and many “adopted” children. 

A memorial service will be 10 A.M., Friday, November 11, 2022 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gino Mayo officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
