Patti Jean McRae

Patti Jean McRae, of Marianna, FL, passed away peacefully January 10, 2025 after several years of declining health. 

Patti was born December 6, 1954 in Brunswick, GA, to Jerlene Gay and Otis Earl McRae. Patti attended Brunswick High School and upon graduation, entered Brunswick Junior College (now known as College of Coastal Georgia) where she completed training to become a Registered Nurse. Patti worked as an RN in a variety of healthcare environments. Her career was abbreviated somewhat due to health issues.

Patti is survived by a son, Charles Michael Cowart; a daughter, Michelle Cowart Bishop and husband, Rodney; and a number of first cousins in Tampa, Florida, Wyoming and France. 

The family expresses its appreciation to the staff of Chipola Health and Rehabilitation, Jackson Hospital (Emergency Department, 2nd floor Medical-Surgical and 3rd floor PCU and SCU) along with VITAS Hospice care for their efforts to provide Patti with the meticulous care needed to allow her to make the most of the final three years of her life. We also thank Ashley Carr Hess (Marianna) and Emily Eddins (Dothan) for visits to Patti to assess and bring cheer to Patti.  

A small and informal gathering of friends and family is being planned for the week of January 19. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
