Patrick Corr Obituary

Patrick J. Corr age 89 passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020. He was of the Catholic faith and is survived by his sister Una of Great Neck, NY, his niece Brigid of Philadelphia, PA, his step-son, daughter-in-law, and grandson Tony, Laura and John D. Mitchell of Marianna, FL, and the love of his life and long-time companion Beth. He was preceded in death by his father John A. Corr and his mother Eileen Ann both of County Cork, Ireland.

 

In 1952 Patrick emigrated to the US from his native land Ireland and in 1954, on the proudest day of his life, was sworn in as an American citizen while serving his newly adopted country in the US Army. He served during the Korean War as a Military Police Investigator in both US Army’s 11th Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell, KY and 382 2nd Military Police Battalion, Heidelberg Germany. In 1956 he joined the NY State Police retiring in 1977 with the rank of Investigator in the department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. That same year he moved to Florida continuing his law enforcement career for 5 more years as a Criminal Investigator for the State of Florida.

He then began a 13-year investigative career with USAA Insurance Company, San Antonio, TX, followed by 5 years as President of Rock Grove Investigations a Tampa based private investigative agency.

Patrick was a graduate of Westchester College, Valhalla, NY, with an AAS degree in Police Science and Administration and of Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY with a baccalaureate degree majoring in Psychology and Behavioral Science. Patrick was a proud member of John Birch Society, the American Legion (Post 273, Madeira Beach), the NRA (Life Member), the United Sportsman of Florida (USF), the Dade City Rod & Gun Club, the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO), NY State Police PBA, the Florida Association of Retired (NY) Troopers and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

He also contributed to his local community through 2 years of volunteer service at the Moffitt Cancer Center and 10 years of volunteer service with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Departments Major Crimes “cold case” homicide unit.

 

Memorialization will be by cremation.

Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL.
