Michael "Mike" S. Evans

Michael “Mike” Stephen Evans, age 71, of Marianna, FL passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at his home.

Mike was born on December 12, 1950 in Greenville, Mississippi to the late Buford Evans, Sr. and Alma Morrison Evans and grew up in Vicksburg, MS.  In his youth, he enjoyed playing sports, which followed him all through life, golf turning out to be his favorite. He moved to Marianna, FL to be the Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church, which he spent many years and loved dearly. Most recently, he attended First United Methodist Church and was a proud member of the Open Door Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Bowers.

Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen Evans; sons, Christopher Evans and wife, Misty, of Redding, California, Kyle Evans and wife, Heather, of Sneads, Fl; brother, Buford B. Evans, Jr. of Vicksburg, MS; as well as grandchildren, Layla Evans, Gracie Evans, Lane Poythress, Kelsey Repasky and Brendan Repasky, and many special friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.

A memorial service will be 11 A.M., Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Marianna First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Nathan Attwood officiating. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home will be directing.

The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until the time of service in the First United Methodist Church Wesley Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, in Mike’s memory.
