Mervin C. Land

Mervin C. Land, age 92, of Greenwood, FL died on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at his residence while surrounded by his loving daughters. 

Mervin was born October 30, 1931 in Jackson County, FL to the late Herchel and Estelle Baxter Land. Mervin was a proud veteran and served in the United States Air Force for 21 years before retiring. He later took a position as a Correctional Officer for the State of Florida where he worked for an additional ten years. Mervin was a member of Collins Chapel Baptist Church in Malone and loved his Lord and church family. His hobbies included fishing and spending quality time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor “Nell” Land, parents, Herchel and Estelle Land; granddaughter, Magon K. Grimsley; brothers, Harold Gene Land and Lewis Elmore; sisters, Dorothy Land and Hazel Wimberley.

Mervin is survived by his two daughters, Teresa Grimsley and Talana Kennedy (Brian); grandchildren, Hunter Vogel and Alana Vogel, Michael Grimsley and Joe Grimsley, III; great grandson, Levi Grimsley; and brother, Terry Elmore.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Friday, July 12, 2024 at Collins Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Ken Beard officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
