Melvin Arthur Bowen, born on December 20, 1950, in Lakeland, Florida, passed away on July 3, 2026, at his home in Campbellton, Florida.
Melvin spent many years building a strong work ethic through his employment with Boutwell Construction, Morehead Engineering, and R.M. Barrineau as a Registered Land Surveyor. He took pride in the work he did and was respected for his reliability, dedication, and willingness to give his best in every task.
A man who loved the outdoors, Melvin was a proud member of the Hickory Ford Hunting Club in Levy County, Florida. He also spent much of his time volunteering with Marion County Special Olympics and special needs Boy Scouts Troop 331 for over 20 years. Melvin and his family spent many weekends camping with the Boy Scout Troop and served in numerous positions over the years. Whether working, hunting, or simply enjoying the company of his family and friends, he valued the simple and meaningful moments that made life rich.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Vernon Bowen; his brother, James Bowen; and his sisters, Velma Moore, Gladys Ensling, Lana Bowen, and Wanda Hill.
