Marie (Bruner) Chafin

Marie Bruner Chafin, age 89 of Marianna passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Marianna Health&Rehab. She was born on March 15, 1930 in Marianna, and raised in the Cherokee Community, where she learned the value of hard work. Marie was a member of Holly Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, and tending to her flowers.  Marie loved her family dearly, and had a sweet and gentle spirit about her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Romance and Annie Adkins Bruner; husband, William Franklin Chafin; three stepsons, Howard Chafin, Jim Chafin, and Bill Chafin; stepdaughter, Margaret Chafin Boone; sisters, Lou Merle Breeze, Catherine Adkins, and Susie Mae Mercer; one brother, Willie B. Bruner; great-granddaughter, Meghan Myrick and one step-grandson, James Allen Chafin.

Marie is survived by her two daughters, Elsie Myrick of Marianna, and Brenda Peters of Marianna; stepchildren, John F. Chafin and wife Paula of Tallahassee, and Sarah Wright and husband Ronnie of Marianna; grandchildren; Keith Myrick, David Myrick, Tommy Reese, and Victoria Thomas; step-grandchildren, Deborah Mathis, John A. Chafin, Paul Chafin, Kathy Coggins, Melanie Bradle, Robbie Chafin, Cindy Jordan, Myra Rhodes, Richard Boone, Stephen Wrights, Jeff Wright, and Rachel Vaughn. Marie is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 20, 2020 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Hussey and Pastor Ronnie Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Hickory Level Cemetery (1221 Dipper Rd, Marianna, FL 32448).  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

The family will be meeting at the home of Ronnie and Sarah Wright (3463 Kynesville Road, Marianna, FL 32448).
