Maria Elena González, born January 8, 1963, in Havana, Cuba, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Her 61 years on this Earth were filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Maria's life was a testament to resilience and boundless love.
She immigrated to Miami, Florida, in her youth, eventually settling in Marianna, Florida, where she and her beloved husband of 42 years, Gustavo Mesa González, built a warm and loving home. Together, they raised a beautiful family and in their later years, embraced the joy of helping to raise their grandchildren. Maria's professional journey included years of dedicated service at Walmart, and later, as a dispatcher and translator for Oracle Elevator. However, her greatest joy and calling were found in her role as a homemaker and the heart of her family. Maria was truly a mother to all, a steady anchor, and a source of strength and comfort to anyone who knew her. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel cherished. Her personality lit up every room she entered, and her warmth, loyalty and strength left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to cross her path. Maria enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: shopping, being pampered, taking care of others and indulging in her favorite telenovelas. Wherever she went, Maria was the star of the show, radiating love and joy to all.
For the last two years of her life, Maria displayed remarkable courage as she battled colon cancer with grace and strength. Though she ultimately lost her battle, her legacy of love, resilience and dedication lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Audo Sanchez and Clara Heredia; siblings, Clara Sanchez, George Sanchez, Jorge Sanchez, and Victor Sanchez; her beloved son, Pedro Lopez; and her precious granddaughter, Lyla Batista.
Maria leaves behind a large and loving family, including her devoted husband, Gustavo González; sister, Gladys Sanchez; brother, Audo Sanchez; and her cherished children, son, Barbaro Dominguez and his wife, Rebecca Dominguez, along with their children, Zachary Paille, Jordan Dominguez and Antonio Dominguez, son, Victor Gonzalez and his husband, Zac Hatcher, son, Felix Batista and his wife, Deanne Berry, along with their children, Lucas Batista, Liliana Batista, and Allie-Anne Cheverez, son, Gustavo Gonzalez Jr. and his wife, Karenia Gonzalez, along with their children, Deunna Gonzalez, Mariah Gonzalez, Shemar Gonzalez, and Symarii Gonzalez, daughter, Joann Gonzalez and her husband, Alejandro Trejo, along with their children, Christopher Gray; daughter, Jamiley Gonzalez and her husband, Osmany Trejo, along with their children, Arianna White, Jaylan White, and Mykel White. Maria also leaves behind her grandchildren from her late son, Pedro Lopez: Pedro Lopez, Jr., Yessenia Lopez and Kristian Lopez. Her life and legacy touched countless other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Maria was the heart and soul of her family, a beacon of kindness and unwavering support. Her love was unconditional, her spirit unbreakable, and her presence irreplaceable. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Rest in eternal peace. You were the embodiment of love and strength, and you will remain forever in our hearts.
Memorialization will be by cremation with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
