Linda C. Sullivan

Linda C. Sullivan, age 79, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Jackson Hospital with her family by her side.

Linda’s love for children initiated a private daycare as the beginning to a lifelong career as an educator. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University in Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from UWF. 

Linda retired after 35 years of teaching Kindergarten at Cottondale Elementary School and working with the Early Childhood Program in the Jackson County School District. Throughout her career, she established relationships with coworkers that would create lifelong friendships. Over the years, she showed her passion  for learning with hundreds of young students. 
Linda lived each day to enjoy her grandchildren, Reid & Lance Long, and supported them in everything they chose to pursue as they became young men.  Her great-grands, Addilyn and Everly stole her heart and gave her great pleasure with their sparkling personalities.

Linda was born in Marianna where she spent most of her life.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Maggie Cook; brother, James Cook; and nephew, Robbie Cook.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Kim Long and husband, Frankie; grandchildren, Reid Long and wife, Christa and Lance Long and fiancé, Kaylee all of Marianna; great grandchildren, Addilyn and Everly; father of her only daughter, Jerry Sullivan; neice, Dotty Cook, wife of the late Robbie Cook,  nephews, Jim Cook and wife, Fran, Mike Cook and Kim, Jeff Cook and wife, Jan; along with a host of great nieces, nephews, and special dear friends. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Marianna with Reverends Vince Smith and Dr. Paola Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. 

The family will receive friends for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Jackson Hospital Special Care Unit nurses along with Dr. Steven Spence and Dr. Paola Bass for the care shown to Linda during this difficult time as well as the support of her family.
