Laurie Nicholas "Nick" Hewett

Nick Hewett, age 81, of Bascom, FL passed away on April 24, 2026 at his residence. 

Nick proudly served in the United States Marine Corp for four years. He later became a firefighter at Ft. Rucker for over 26 years while also running Hewett Painting for 40 years. Nick loved fishing and hunting, a passion that was passed on to his sons. He also loved his children and grandchildren in which he was extremely proud of each one of them. He was married to the love of his life, Linda Hewett for 60 years before her passing in 2025.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Kay Hewett; his son, Jason Hewett; siblings, Jeanette Wolfe, Carolyn Wierman, Ann Skipper, Royce Hewett, Frank Hewett, Lewis Hewett, Lowell Hewett and Kenneth Hewett.

Nick is survived by his children, Dennis Hewett (Kimberly) of Dothan, AL and Kelly Hewett (Cindy) of Bascom, FL; his cherished grandchildren, Cody Hewett, Emily Hewett (DJ), Amber Manire, Kirsten Hewett, Kaylee Long (Lance), Sarah Fender (Andrew), Tyler Blayne Hewett, and Cole Hewett; his great-grandchildren, Everleigh Edwards, Weston Colson and Stella Kay Koopman. 

The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Circle Hill Baptist Church (7170 Circle Hill Rd., Sneads, FL 32460) with Reverend John Holley officiating. Burial will be private in Circle Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers will be: Phil Winget, Austin Winget, Tony Pelham, Josh Hamilton, Bo Hamilton and Cole Hewett.

The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for the care they provided.

Funeral services are entrusted to the Lambe Family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
