Julius "Brother" Clayton Joiner

Julius Clayton Joiner, affectionally known as Brother, age 81, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.

Brother was born on October 8, 1943, in Marianna, FL to Willie T. and Marie Joiner. Brother, enlisted in the Florida National Guard, 144th Transportation Unit at the age of 19 and served alongside his dad. After his Honorable Discharge, Brother worked at LeHigh Furniture before beginning his career with the State of Florida at Dozier School as a House Supervisor for 29 years. Brother was a member of Damascus Freewill Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsmen who loved hunting and the Florida Gators.

Brother was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Willie T. Joiner; wife, Rachel Joiner; sister, Carolyn Mayo; brother, Tommy Joiner; as well as his nephews, Ricky Russell and Andy Bragg.

Brother is survived by his children; sons, Steve Joiner and wife, Cindy of Chipley, FL, Scott Joiner and wife, Kim of Chipley, FL, daughter, Stacey Joiner and mother of his children, Betty Sue Harris Joiner of Chipley, FL; brother, Bobby Joe Joiner and wife, Rhonda of Orlando, FL; sisters, Barbara Pumphrey and husband, Ray of Marianna, FL, Betty Sue Bragg of Marianna, FL, Shirley Gill and husband, George of Mexico Beach, FL; grandchildren, Tosha Johnson (Richard), Crystal Joiner, Megan Marshall (Scott), Matt Joiner, Shelby Joiner; great grandchildren, Tony Futch, Trent Futch, Allie Futch, Cadence Marshall, Whitton Marshall; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his very special dog, Boo. 

Funeral services will be 11 A.M., Monday, November 11, 2024 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Johnson and Chaplain Gino Mayo officiating.

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. 

The family will be gathering at the home of Ray and Barbara Pumphrey, 2789 Race Lane, Marianna, FL 32446.
