James Edward Mayes

James Edward Mayes, affectionally known as “Uncle Skeet”, age 78, of Marianna, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. 

James was born on August 1, 1946 in Fort Polk, LA. From a young age, James received his certificate in carpentry and became a skilled carpenter through numerous years of work. James was very involved at the Sneads Pentecostal Holiness Church where he and his wife, Sharon attended. He loved to travel and attended many mission trips to Jamaica, as well as Haiti, on numerous occasions. James was a family man whom loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Paul Mayes and his grandchild, Luke James Sullivan. 

James is survived by his wife, Sharon Mayes of Marianna, FL; daughters, Sherry Lee Sullivan and husband, Russell of Moorcroft, WY, Margaret Ann Mayes of Aurora, CO; two sons, Jonathan Mayes and wife, Breanna, and Drew Mayes all of Marianna, FL;  a very special and exceptional son, Jimmy Mae Maclucky; step daughters, Melynda Nickels and husband, Shawn, Pam Willis and husband, Paul; as well as many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M., Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Sneads Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. Charlie Fowler and Pastor Jimmy Wright officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M., Friday, May 16, 2025 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
