Hollis Williams

Ms. Hollis Ann Williams, age 78, of Steel City, FL, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at her residence.

In 1976, Mrs. Williams moved to Jackson County with her husband, Alvah where they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Hollis and Alvah owned and operated “The Sittin Bull” restaurant in Orange Lake, FL, and a hotel in Ocala, FL. She also operated “Memaw’s Custom Embroidery” for over 20 years which is still in operation. Hollis enjoyed reading, antiques, traveling, dancing, basketball, playing canasta, puzzles, getting her nails done, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jobie and Herma Blackburn; daughter, Wylene “Sweet Pea” Lathan; and brother, Benjamin Blackburn.

Hollis is survived by husband of 61 years, Alvah Larry Williams; sons, Lawrence Williams and wife, Wanda of Compass Lake, FL, Jobie Williams and wife, Cindy of Deer Point Lake, FL, Paul Williams and wife, Missy of Steel City, FL; grandchildren, Josh Williams, Brent Williams, Hannah Williams, Morgan Williams, Kayla Lathan, Kasey Lathen, Scotty Williams, Tyler Williams, Cody Williams and Lloyd Carter; Ten great- grandchildren, and special friend, Carolee Phillips. 

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at First Assembly of God Church in Cottondale, FL, with Reverend Chris Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Alford City Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at First Assembly of God Church in Cottondale, FL.
