Hermila Gross Obituary

Hermila Manalang Gross, age 67, passed away at her residence in Alford, FL on Friday, Novemeber 1, 2024.

Hermila was born October 18, 1957 in Porac, Pampanga, Philippines. While growing up among a loving family, she attended Saint Catherine Academy. Soon after, she met and married, Dwight Gross. She later became a mother to three wonderful children. While settling down and planting roots in Alford, FL, she worked in her calling of customer service. She started out as a biscuit maker at Hardee’s and worked her way up to manager. Besides Hardee’s, with her experience and passion, she later became a manager for Sonny’s BBQ and Chevron. She also had worked as a cashier at Food World. After her years of management, she then became a server/waitress at Jim’s Steakhouse and Golden Corral.

Besides working, she was an extraordinary and delightful mother and Apu (Filipino grandparent). Moreover, she openly loved to boast about the accomplishments of her family to others. During her spare time, she enjoyed the presence of her friends and family, especially karaoke. She enjoyed cooking traditional Filipino food as well, which always tasted delightful. She had also picked up sewing and crocheting as a hobby. In addition, she loved tending to her small flower garden and playing the piano. During her walk of life, Hermila made sure that everyone around her was taken care of.

Hermila was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Avelina Manglilman (Maiden name - Manalang).

She is survived by two sons, Jeremiah Gross of Chipley, FL and Ian Gross of Alford, FL; one daughter, Jasmine Gross of Panama City, FL; brothers, Romeo and Hinio Mangiliman; three sisters, Myrna Bagang, Josie Saurez and Anabel Isip; five grandchildren, Aidan Gross, Emma Gross, Ian James Gross, Christopher Jace Gross and Milo Gay.
