Frances Grubbs Yon

Frances Grubbs Yon, 86, of Marianna, FL, passed away on November 9, 2025 at Jackson Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Perry, FL, and became a longtime resident of Marianna after marrying her husband, George “G.D.” Yon, Jr. Frances worked with her husband through the years and also served as a 911 dispatcher for both the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Marianna Police Department, after retiring from the State of Florida Division of Driver License.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.D. Yon, Jr.; her parents, Ernest Lincoln and Lucy Ellen Grubbs; her brother, Lloyd Nolan Grubbs and his wife, Reva Carrole; and her sister, Addie Merelyn Grubbs.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Lyn Yon (Robin) of Orlando, FL and DeAnne Yon Bruner (Travis) of Marianna, FL; step-grandchildren, Brooke Bruner Melvin (Mason), Kaleigh Bruner (Jack), and Allie Bruner, all of Marianna, FL; as well as great-granddaughters, Presley, Tatum, and Cilla. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

She loved working in her yard, traveling with her sister, and cheering for the Florida Gators. Many will remember Frances for her gentle spirit and the sweet, kind way she treated everyone she met.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M., Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Lovedale Baptist Church, 6595 Lovedale Road, Greenwood FL with Rev. Dr. Steve Canada officiating. A private family interment will take place at Pisgah Cemetery in Perry, FL with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. 

The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship from 10 A.M., until the time of service at Lovedale Baptist Church.
