Ellen Elizabeth Hill

Miss Ellen E. Hill, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home and surrounded by family on Saturday, November 20, 2021.  

Born in Marianna, Florida to the late Amos and Myrtle Hill, she later moved to Tallahassee, Florida. Ellen was a graduate of Marianna High School and the University of West Florida.  In Tallahassee, she worked for many years with J. Michael Huey, Shareholder Attorney at Gray Robinson.  Upon retiring, she returned to Marianna. 

Ellen was a child of God. She was also a faithful member of the Caverns Road Church of Christ in Marianna and of the Timberlane Church of Christ while in Tallahassee.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a genuine love for people.  She found beauty in everything and never met a stranger. Her light was bright everywhere she went.  Ellen loved flowers, singing, and always had a smile on her face. Ellen was a loving mentor and mother figure to her niece and nephew and a grandmother figure to her great-nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Annette Widner.  

Ellen is survived by her brother-in-law, Claude Widner of Marianna, Florida; niece, Michelle Widner Blackmon and husband, Jeff of Marianna, Florida; nephew, Michael Widner and wife, Jan of Tallahassee, Florida; as well as her great-nephews, Mason Blackmon, Bryce and Levi Widner. 

A funeral service for Miss Ellen will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Caverns Road Church of Christ in Marianna, Florida with Minister John Poitevint officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.  

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  

The family would like to thank all of the special friends and family for their unwavering love and support throughout her life and in this time.
