Dorothy G. Eldridge

Dorothy G. Eldridge, age 88, of Alford, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Jackson Hospital. Dorothy was a native of Jackson County, born on November 27, 1934 to the late Redding Leonard and Della Leola Griffin. 

Dorothy enjoyed life and serving her community. She was a lifetime member of Alford Assembly of God Church where she enjoyed singing. Dorothy loved reading her Bible and attending gospel sings. She also attended Sapp Church in Cottondale. Among her many enjoyments in life, Dorothy loved being a caregiver to others, sewing and ironing. She worked several years for the Jackson County School Board as a cook for Marianna High School and Cottondale High School. Dorothy also worked for the convalescent center after her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Deward Lamar Golden; son, Deward Lamar Golden; brothers, Burt Griffin, Frank Griffin and R.A. Griffin; sisters, Leola Price Lipford, Artha Bauldree, Josie Mitchell, Margie Maddox, Julie Adams and Pansy Griffin, 

Dorothy is survived by her son, Richard Golden and wife, Regina of Alford; daughters, Teresa “Chris” Hill and husband, Larry of Alford, Ladell Golden of Kynesville and Ellen Ramos and husband, Phil of Crestview. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Services for Dorothy will be conducted 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Willis Hagan officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alford Assembly of God Church or the Church of your choice in the name of Dorothy G. Eldridge.
