Donald "Donnie" Houston Hightower

Donald “Donnie” Houston Hightower, age 62, of Fountain, FL, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 in Bay County, FL.

Donnie was born on March 10, 1961 in Panama City, FL, to the late Carl Houston Hightower, Jr. and Lula Estelle Alsobrooks. He spent most of his life in Fountain, FL, and took great pleasure in small town living. Donnie was employed by the Jackson County Road Department and the owner and operator of his business, Hightower Lawn Care. He enjoyed getting to spend his days outdoors as well. Donnie was also a Pastor at the Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center and believed the Lord was going to use him wherever he was sent. Donnie met his wife, Cheryl, in 2018 and made her a bride in 2021. He loved spending time with his family, bass fishing, crabbing on the beach and his two dogs; Poochie and Pretty Girl, who held a special place in his heart.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Houston Hightower, Jr. and Lula Estelle Alsobrooks.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Hightower of Fountain, FL; his children, Donald “DJ” Houston Hightower, Jr. of Panama City, FL, Casey Laycox and wife, Gwendolyn Toole of Graceville, FL, Lloyd Laycox of Graceville, FL, and Kathleen Grice and husband, Jarrod of Sneads, FL. He also leaves behind his brothers, Dennis Earl Hightower and wife, Debbie of Fountain, FL, Terry William Hightower and wife, Mary of Marianna, FL and his sister, Donna Lynn Hightower Melvin and husband, Joey of Fountain, FL. Donnie will be missed by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M., Friday, July 28, 2023 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Frances Dudley officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Mountain Cemetery in Fountain, FL, with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
