Donald W. Johns age 87 of Cottondale passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. He was born in Fort Myers on July 30, 1931 to the late Earnest James and Viola Byrd Johns. Donald spent most of his life in Cottondale where he worked as a State Inspector for the Department of Agriculture. He was a member and past deacon of the First Baptist Church. Donald loved his family dearly and cherished every minute spent with them. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid sports fan.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara Johns; siblings, Fred Johns, Cecil Johns, E.J Johns, Lawrence Johns, and Voncile Johns.
He is survived by his children, Jerry Johns, Jeanie Gorton and husband Douglas, Denise Byrd and husband Tim; grandchildren, Jennifer, Alex, Evan, Jeremy, Luke, and one great grandchild, Bodhi.
A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Cottondale First Baptist Church Cemetery.
