Diane Betty Miles, a devoted wife, mother, sister, and teacher, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, in Marianna, Florida. Born on May 16, 1950, in Jackson County, Florida, Diane was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, her students, her church, and her community.
Diane led an inspiring 30-year career as a teacher in Jackson County, where she impacted the lives of thousands of children. With a Master’s degree in English and a Bachelor’s in Biology, she was a passionate and gifted educator who shared her love for learning generously. Her intelligence and compassion shone through in her ability to understand and solve complex challenges, always with a gentle and loving spirit.
Diane was a devoted member of her church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and engaged in countless acts of service. Her faith and commitment to her community were evident in her selfless dedication to others. She loved flowers and could often be found tending to her beautiful garden, which brought her immense joy. Diane was also an avid traveler, finding beauty and adventure in exploring new places.
She was predceded in death by her first husband, Dannis Grice; her parents, William and Myrtle Burke; and her brother, Dennis Burke.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, John Miles; her sons, Jeremy Grice, John Grice, and Johnny Miles; her daughters, Barbara Toole and Wanda Smiley; her sisters, Linda Burke and Teresa Bagley; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 A.M., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church, 6334 Birchwood Road, Marianna, FL 32448 with Pastor John W. Miles officiating. Interment will take place in Collins Chapel Cemetery, 5005 3rd Ave, Malone, FL 32445, with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 9 A.M., until the time of service at Antioch Baptist Church.
Diane’s memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those she touched with her wisdom, kindness, faith, and dedication.
