Delma Basford Obituary

Delma Eugene Basford, age 76 of Cypress passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Chattahoochee on November 19, 1943 and spent most of his life in Jackson County. Delma served his country in the United States Navy. He then went to work for Sunland, where he retired after 30 plus years of service taking care of residents. Delma had many hobbies including, woodworking, gardening, and mechanics. He also enjoyed traveling different places to go sight-seeing. Delma was a member of the Cypress Baptist Church, where he enjoyed listening to Gospel Music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Park and Florence Lynn Basford; brother n law, Edward Keel Jr. and wife Margie, brother-in-law Horace Nichols, and sister-in-law Tessa Basford.

Delma is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Mary Keel Basford of Cypress; two sisters, Catherine Jeanette Nichols of Marianna and Linda Hamby (Dan) of Douglasville, Georgia; one brother, Wayne Basford of Woodstock, Georgia; sister n law, Shirley Miaoulis (Nick) of Tarpon Springs, Florida; brother n law, Charles Keel of Missouri, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In consideration of community health and public safety due to the COVID 19 Virus, a private family graveside service will be held at Cypress Cemetery on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emerald Coast Hospice (3015 Jefferson St, Marianna, FL 32446) or a favorite charity.
