David Mathis

David W. Mathis, age 71, of Cottondale, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at his residence with his loving family by his side. 

David was born on July 18, 1950 to the late William Washington Mathis and Eva Howard in Blountstown, FL. David was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years and was promoted to a Specialist 4th class. David married his wife, Rene, in 1976 in Youngstown, FL. He loved working in the yard and above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lola Mathis, Evelyn Mason; and brother, Olan Mathis.

David is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rene Mathis of Cottondale, FL; sons, William Mathis and wife, Keila of Cottondale, FL; Russell Mathis and wife, Tiffany of Alford, FL; daughter, Heather Bauldree and husband, Chris of Alford, FL; grandchildren, Patrick Mathis, Jayden Mathis, Bryant Mathis, Hayslee Mathis, Mayken Carter whom was like a son to David, Susie Bauldree, Asa Bauldree, Gage Mathis, Hunter Mathis, and Jackson Brovious; as well many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Blaylock officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home will be directing. 

The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
