Darrell M. Sample

Darrell M. Sample, age 69, of Alford, FL, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Jackson Hospital. He was born November 4, 1952 in Akron, OH.

Darrell was born to the late Glenn Roland Sample and Ellen Martin Sample. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after college and was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. During his service, Darrell was a Radio Communications Technician. His tours also led him to be stationed in Germany, the Philippines, South Korea, Key West, Avon Park, and Tyndall Air Force Base. After retirement from the military, he continued his career in Radio Communications in Panama City, FL, and worked for Precision Communications for many years. Darrell enjoyed fishing, model trains, playing online games, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Sample; parents, Glenn and Ellen Sample; and brother, Lynn Sample.

Darrell is survived by his son, Darrell Sample of Panama City, FL; daughter, Shelby Sample of Alford, FL; sisters, Colleen Avery and spouse, Elenor of San Antonio, TX, Teresa Taylor and husband, Gene of Sylacauga, AL, and Vicki Padgett and husband, Tom of Warner Robbins, GA; five grandchildren, Sean Sample and wife, Constance, Daniel Pizzulo and wife, Ariel, Felicia Baxley and husband, Jeffery, Jordan and Tapanga Sample; two great grandchildren, Elijah and Cecilia; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home will be directing.
