Claude "Berry" Ostrander

Claude “Berry” Ostrander, aka “Grandbear”, age 66, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Berry was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fly fish. Several years ago, he won the Buckmaster Contest and he could catch the biggest bream in the river you had ever seen. He loved Bluegrass and Country music and played with several bands throughout his life. Playing the guitar and dobro with Dry Creek and The Run’d Off Band were some of the best times ever. He enjoyed frying fish and pickin’ at home on the Chipola River for family and friends. These were Berry's Glory Days and a good time was had by all!

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Edward Ostrander and sister, Peggy Sue Quinton 

Berry is survived by his mother, Gloria Dora Ostrander of Marianna, FL; loving wife of 29 years, Lisa Ann Ostrander of Marianna; daughter, Crystal White and husband, Conrad of Compass Lake, FL; son, Blair McGurren and wife, Maggie Mae of Sebastian, FL; grandchildren, Coral Rose, Chloe, Conrad II and Cicely White, Kayla Ann McGurren and Marlin Vermilyea. 

A memorial service will be at 3 P.M. Saturday, May 14, 2022 on the banks of the Chipola River at the Slaters residence, 2468 Sweetwater Lane, Marianna, FL, 32448. Memorialization will be by cremation with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
