Charlton David Keen, Jr., age 81, passed away on September 23, 2022, in Marianna, Florida.

Charlton was born in Marianna, FL on April 18,1941 to Charlton D. Keen, Sr. and Mildred Hooten Keen. Mr. Keen graduated from Marianna High School in 1959, then attended Birmingham Southern College where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and served in many campus organizations. He graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. He then enrolled in graduate school at Florida State University where he earned a Master of Science degree in Social Sciences. He was employed at Chipola College from 1965 through 2003 as an instructor, Division Chair, Dean of Education and Vice President of Instructional and Student Services. For many years he was on the Marianna Coca Cola Bottling Company's Board of Directors. He served on the Diaconate and as Sunday School Superintendent of the First Presbyterian Church of Marianna.

Mr. Keen was very active for 37 years in the Lions Club International, serving in numerous capacities at the local, district, state and national levels. He also served on the boards of various local, state and regional nonprofit organizations. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlton D. Keen, Sr.; his mother, Mildred Hooten Keen; sister, Julia Hooten Keen; and his former wife and friend, Lynn Thompson Keen. 

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elaine Hazell Keen; his children, Charlton David Keen, Ill (Tricia) of Pittsburgh, PA, Brittain R. Keen of Tallahassee. FL, and Melanie Keen Walker of Tallahassee, FL; his brother, J. Velma Keen, Il (Sharon) of Rogers, AR; several nieces and nephews, seven wonderful grandchildren and the family's close Dominican "sons", Jose Bautista, Fernando Isa, and Moises Feliz. 

Private graveside services will be Tuesday, October 4, 2022 with Pastor Gino Mayo officiating, Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. 

A time of visitation will be Monday, October 3, 2022 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home from 5 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Graceville Lions Club (PO Box 611, Graceville, FL 32440) or Emerald Coast Hospice.

The family extends a special thanks to Joe H. Gay, MD, and his staff at Chipola Medical Association, Kindred Home Health Care, Emerald Coast Hospice, and close family friend, Kendrick Gardner.
