Betty R. Barnes

Betty R. Barnes, age 88, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Jackson Hospital.

Betty was born on September 12, 1933 in Graceville, FL, to the late Henry Craven Kittrell and Dovie Yon Kittrell. Betty was a Cottondale High School Graduate and also attended Chipola College. She married the love of her life, J.D., when she was 19 years old and together, they owned and operated Barnes Grocery in Alford, FL, for many years. Betty also worked for the Jackson County School Board as a Teachers Aide at Alford Elementary School. She was a longtime member of Salem Free Will Baptist Church and loved her family more than anything.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, J.D. Barnes; brothers, Jewel J. Kittrell, James Paige Kittrell, and Cecil Kittrell; sister, Ann Clevenger; and nephew, Jewel E. Kittrell.

She is survived by her great nieces whom were referred to as her daughters, Angela Burks and husband, Rob of Campbellton, FL, and Melinda Campbell and husband, Michael of Cottondale; grandchildren, Chase and Hailey Campbell, Macey Howell, and Hunter Burks; great grandchild, Harper Campbell; brother-in-law, Floyd Clevenger; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Donnie Hussey officiating. A private family interment will follow the service in Salem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
