Barbara Thompson Rodgers, age 90, of Greenwood, FL, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021. She was born in Doucette, Texas, to James O. and Hattie D. Owens on July 11, 1931.
She was married in 1951 to John Emory Thompson and they operated Thompson’s Store in Greenwood for many years. They later opened Thompson’s in Malone. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Emory Thompson in 1984. She later married Chester D. Rodgers of Malone.
She is survived by her children, Emory Ann Faulk (Joel) of Newton, AL, Debbie Miller (Lee) of Graceville, Tommy Thompson of Greenwood, Wanda Morton (David) of Waycross, GA, and Sherri Vickers (Joe) of Abbeville, AL. She has five grandchildren: Amy Argo (Aaron), April Faulk Parker, Lindsey Williams (Patrick), Leeanna Miller, Glen Thompson (Christina), Geriann Milton (Matt), and Marina Thrift. She also has six great-grandchildren: Shelby Argo, Emma-Kate Barton (Jonathon), DJ Argo, Rilynn Applewhite, Mattox Milton, and Ella Catherine Williams.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home, 3960 US Highway 90, Marianna, Florida 32446.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) in honor of her healthy children and grandchildren.
