Ardis Bea Shattuck

Ardis Bea Shattuck, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, in Marianna, Florida. Known affectionately as Ardis by her friends and family, she was born on January 11, 1932, in Newaygo, Michigan, to the late Hugh and Inez Crandall.

Ardis dedicated her professional life to caring for others, a calling she fulfilled with kindness and empathy. At the Muskegon County Mental Health Facility, she worked tirelessly to support those with disabilities, enriching lives with her unwavering patience and understanding. She carried this commitment to service with her when moving to Jackson County in 2022.

Outside of work, Ardis found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved fishing and crocheting quilts. She was also very skilled in the kitchen, delighting family and friends with her cooking. Her greatest joy was the time she spent in the company of loved ones. Ardis was a devoted Christian and attended the Greenwood Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and sons, Dewayne Lee Shattuck, Dennis James Shattuck and Dale Lawton Shattuck.

Ardis is survived by her sons, Hugh Arthur Shattuck and wife, Brenda, Brian Gene Shattuck; daughters, Penny Jo McGuire, Karen Jean DeYoung and husband, Dennis all of Twin Lake, Michigan; Sharon Ann Castle and husband, Sam of South Fulton, Tennessee; Diane Marie Chance and husband, Gerald of Marianna, FL; and Donna Kay Shattuck of Muskegon, Michigan. Her legacy extends through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will cherish the memory of her love.

A memorial service will be 11 A.M., Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Greenwood Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Harris officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 10:30 A.M., until the time of service at Greenwood Baptist Church. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
