Addis Altera Mayo, 89, born February 26, 1936 in Jackson County, Florida to Ira and Susie Mayo, was called to the Lord Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Jackson Hospital.
Addis was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and was a long time member of Alford Assembly of God, a Red Hat Society Member, and also a member of the Alford Community Organization. She enjoyed shopping and cooking for her family. And retired from the West Point Pepperell after numerous years of committed service.
Addis was preceded in death by her parents; infant sons, Donnie Mayo and Dell Mayo; grandson, Jared Ryan Kent; great grandson, Jacob Blackwell, IV; siblings, Marion Mayo, Harold Mayo, Kenneth Mayo, Carlos Mayo, Linnie Mayo; and father of her children, George Henry Mayo.
She is survived by her son, David Mayo and his wife, Teresa; daughter, Carolyn Diane Wasson; siblings, Wallace Mayo and wife, Carolyn, Lonnie Hancock, and Bessie M. Collins and her husband, Bill; grandchildren, Tony Mayo, Tonya Crutchfield, Tammy Blackwell, Shane Kent, Lance Wasson and Lucas Wasson; great grand-children, Nathaniel Mayo, Christopher Kent, Jr., Ashley White, Haley Wasson, LT Wasson, McKenzie Wasson, Christina Smith, Layne Mayo, Faith Blackwell, Raylin Norris, Chloe Wasson, as well as Colby Wasson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Chubby Watson officiating. Interment will follow in White Pond Baptist Church Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship one hour prior to the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
