Sarah Davis Gilbert

Sarah Doris Gilbert age 92 of Campbellton, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Sarah was born on April 2, 1926 in Campbellton to the late William Pat and Sallie Elizabeth Peacock Gilbert.  She was a native of this area and a member of the Campbellton First Baptist Church. Sarah was an educator, business lady, and a cattle farmer. Sarah completed her degree in Business Administration in 1950 at Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia. She taught business classes for 40 plus years in Jackson County; teaching typing, business math and business machines at Cottondale, Graceville and ending her teaching career at Marianna High School.  In addition to teaching school, she had a cattle operation and managed the motel business she and her mother built.  In her free time she helped coordinate weddings and decorated her church for special events and holidays.

She loved her community and church. After retiring from teaching, Sarah spent much time working in her church and community.  She helped with Vacation Bible School, Harvest Day, Pastor Appreciation, Homecoming, Ladies Tea, WMU and taught Youth Sunday School Class. She also served on the Campbellton Town Council and stayed involved in the town events.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by many cousins, friends, relatives, the citizens of Campbellton community, and members of Campbellton First Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 25, 2019 at Campbellton First Baptist Church Cemetery.
