Mae (Pumphrey) Bishop

Mae Pumphry Bishop age 78 of Cottondale, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Jackson Hospital. She was born in Marianna to the late Rev. Hershel Monroe and Lucretia Alsobrooks Pumphrey. Mae lived in Montgomery for 33 years where she was member of Forest Park Baptist Church. She moved back to Cottondale in 1993.  Mae enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and working in her yard. She loved visiting her family and friends, and was an Auburn Football and Atlanta Braves fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby W. Bishop, brothers Paul Pumphrey, David Pumphrey, Willard Alsobrooks, and sister Verneal Runnels.

Mae is survived by three sons Robert Bishop (Lynn) of Montgomery, Michael Bishop (Donna) of Shreveport, LA, and Russell Bishop of Deatsville AL, brothers Donald Pumphrey of Pensacola, FL, and Doyle Pumphrey of Cario, GA, sisters Norma Ellis of Grand Ridge, and Berta Keene of Mauldin, SC, grandchildren Justin Barr (Nichole) of Shreveport, LA, Myles Bishop of Prattville, AL, Kelsey Bishop of Prattville, AL, Nicole Panaia of Shreveport, LA, great grandchildren Abby Gale Barr, and Adalynn Bishop. She is also survived a host of nieces, nephews, and special friend Kathy Blasi of Marianna, FL.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mae will be held at 1:00 PM in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2019 with Rev. Dallas Ellis officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until time of service.
