Harold "Hook" Barber

Hurston “Hook” Harold Barber age 82 of Marianna passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at his residence.

Hook was a native of Marianna born on March 3, 1937 to the late Coy Lee and Estelle (Lowery) Barber. He retired from Baxter’s Asphalt as superintendent after many years of service. Hook enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Hook is survived by his wife of 35 years Dianne Barber of Marianna, son Greg Barber and his wife Glenna of Alford, daughter Cindy Yant and husband Scott of Marianna, four step-sons Jamie Lipford and wife Sherry of Marianna, Curtis Lipford of Marianna, Daniel Lipford of Marianna, and Bruce Graham and wife Angelia of Marianna, brother Farrell Barber of Marianna, sisters Gloria Allen of Sneads, Charlotte Cook and husband Lester of Sneads, grandchildren Amanda Yant, Greggory Barber, Dusty Barber, John Dustin Barber, and Jarrett Barber, twelve step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren. Hook is also survived by special friends Eddy Wilson (Betty Roberts), David Sloan and wife Kathy, and John Bryan and wife Missy.

Services for Hook will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 18, 2019 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Sanders officiating.  Interment will follow in Sims Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
