Emerson Bivins

Lenora Emerson Bivins, age 76, died of cancer after a short stay in Jackson Hospital on February 14, 2019 in Marianna, Florida.

Emerson was born on October 30, 1942 in Dalton, Georgia to Hayden Emerson Bivins and Edna Montgomery Bivins. He was placed in Sunland Gainesville in May of 1953. He was transferred to Sunland Marinna in January of 1963. In 1971 Emerson moved into a group home in the community. In 1973 Emerson went to The Wish House in Tallahassee. He then moved into Supported living in Marianna, Florida and was well know by numerous providers over the rest of his life. He worked under sheltered employment for many years until he felt it was time to retire. Emerson maintained his independence until the very end. For the last year he attended New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Marianna.

A memorial service for Emerson will be held at 2:00 PM, on March 13, 2019 at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church at 2801 Caledonia Street, Marianna, Florida 32448 with Rev. Bowers officiating. All are welcome to celebrate Emerson’s life.
