Clarence Register

Clarence Elton Register, husband of Jewellene Holley Register, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 25, 2008. Born on September 26, 1926, he lived most of his life in Cottondale, where he worked with other family members at Register Meat Company. After serving his country in the United States Navy during World War II, Mr. Register returned home and became active in the community. He held the office of Mayor of the City of Cottondale for several years and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Cottondale for an extended period of time. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by them. Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies. Mr. Register was preceded in death by his parents, Sparksman Ezekiel and Julia Cain Register; two sisters, Lucille Jackson and Ellen Bottoms; four brothers Sparksman Ezekiel Register, Jr., Harry Register, Burgess Register and Charles L. Register. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jewellene Holley Register of Cottondale. He also leaves behind a daughter, Judith Register Williams and her husband Roger of Marianna; two sons, Barney Register and his wife Sandra of California and Terry Register of Utah. Other survivors include a brother, John Perry Register and wife, Betty of Pensacola and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Register will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 4 to 6 P.M. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 2 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Cottondale with Dr. W. Wiley Richards and Rev. Jack Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottondale. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
