James Wendell Carter, age 52, of the Rocky Creek Community passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 . He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of Rocky Creek Tabernacle. Spending time outdoors was his passion whether it was hunting, fishing on the Chipola River or traveling the world over. Wendell especially loved traveling to Alaska and enjoyed photography and reading. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lossie A. Carter. Survivors include his father, James Tap Carter of Rocky Creek; brother, Chanley W. Carter and wife Denise, sister, Sharon Carter Messer and husband, Rick; nephew, Michael Shayne Carter; niece, Tiffany Garling and husband Christopher; great niece Shayna Carter and great nephew Jacob Garling and a host of other special nieces and nephews.Services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Alvin Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Sims Cemetery.A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rocky Creek Tabernacle Church building fund into the Wendell Carter Memorial in c/o Wells Fargo Bank.Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
